The Irish sailor took home Ireland's second medal of the Games, on the same day Michael Conlan was on the end of a very controversial decision in the Olympic boxing ring.
Murphy came fifth in the final race in the laser radial class in Rio, but did enough to take second place overall.
The Dubliner finished sixth in her race on Saturday afternoon, leaving herself in third position heading into today's medal race.

Murphy has earned Ireland's first sailing medals since David Wilkins and James Wilkinson at the Moscow Games in 1980.
