The wide receiver set a new NFL record to inspire Detroit to victory

Patrick McCarry

There was no warm welcome for the pilgrims from Chicago at Fort Field as the locals ran amok.

Calvin Johnson set an NFL record in Detroit this Thanksgiving Day as he passed the 10,000 yards receiving milestone in his 115th professional outing, becoming the quickest player to reach the mark. Megatron was unstoppable as he made 11 catches for 146 yards and bagged two touchdowns.

And what’s more, Megatron’s two touchdowns brought his Thanksgiving total to eight, a new record for the holiday.

Johnson caught nine passes for 109 yards in a blitzing first-half as the Lions roared away from their Midwest rivals.

The game finished 34-17. Johnson’s career stats now read, 621 catches for 10,042 yards and 71 touchdowns.
