Probably the worst kept 'secret' in NFL

What’s the American version of a P45?

It’s far from a shock but the news has finally been confirmed that San Francisco 49ers have cut ties with Jim Harbaugh.

The West coast side enjoyed an incredible partnership under the veteran coach and just missed out on Superbowl glory to the Balitmore Ravens last year.

The 49ers didn’t quite hit the heights this term and missed out on the play off’s after ending third in the NFC West after an 8-8 season.

It’s rumoured that he’s going to take a big money job with the University of Michigan with officials confident he’ll be at his alma mater pretty soon:

Harbaugh’s departure was announced just a few minutes after the 49ers’ 20-17 win over Arizona but the departures of several NFL coaches has also filtered through today.

Marc Trestman is also expected to have his rather shocking tenure at the Chicago Bears terminated today.

In his two years in charge the Bears had a record of 13-19 and this season endured a woeful 5-11 campaign.

He’s not alone in clearing out his office though as general manager at Chicago, Phil Emery, is also set to also bite the dust.

Atlanta Falcons have decided that Mike Smith is surplus to requirements too after seven seasons in charge.

He enjoyed a decent return of 66-46 as coach but the writing was on the wall as soon as his side crashed 34-3 to Carolina on Sunday and blowing a chance to win the NFC South.

The New York Jets are also clearing the decks today as coach Rex Ryan  and general manager John Idzik are looking for new jobs after being  ‘consciously uncoupled’ from their jobs.

There is bound to be a few more so we’ll keep you updated on the latest from ‘Black Monday’
