Former NFL player falls off fishing boat and swims 9 miles back to shore

Rob Konrad spent 12 hours alive in the Atlantic Ocean

Meet Rob Konrad. Former Miami Dolphin, and now real-life dolphin.

The six-year NFL veteran was fishing off the Florida coastline this week, when he fell into the ocean after catching a fish.

With his 36 foot boat on autopilot and sailing off into the distance, Konrad channeled his inner dolphin, and decided to swim the nine miles or so back to shore in just his underwear.

He missed a dinner appointment with friends and a coastguard helicopter was sent looking for him, and after spending almost 12 hours stranded in the water, Konrad eventually made it back to land.

After getting back to the beach at around 5am on Thursday morning, Konrad informed the coastguard of his whereabouts, and taken to hospital to be treated for hypothermia, and has since been released, healthy and well.

We’re just relieved all those trips to Seaworld weren’t wasted on him.
