One of Conor McGregor's fiercest rivals fancies the Notorious to beat Jose Aldo

Another fighter has picked Conor McGregor to become the first ever Irish UFC champion.

Dustin " the Diamond" Poirier has had a frosty relationship with Conor McGregor, ever since the Irish man consistently tore him to shreds with his trash-talk in the build up to their Las Vegas grudge match.

When the two eventually threw down inside the Octagon at UFC 178, Poirier fell victim to one of McGregor's patented left hands that dropped him in the first round and ended the fight.

Despite not being on the best terms with the Dubliner, Poirier still thinks the Notorious will be victorious over Jose Aldo in the main event at UFC 189.

Cynics will accuse him of picking McGregor so that his loss to the acerbic-tongued Irish man won't look as bad. On the flip side, if he chose Aldo to win, the trolls would assume he was just being bitter. It was always going to be a lose-lose for Poirier.
