That’s the Premier League title wrapped up for the next five years then.

Manchester City have officially announced that Erling Haaland will join the club from Borussia Dortmund from July 1, thus ending competitive football as we know it.

Haaland will move to the Etihad Stadium after the Premier League champions activated the Norwegian’s €63m release clause and is set to become one of the highest-paid players in the top flight.

Man City confirmed the news in a statement, in which they said the deal had been completed, subject to agreeing on personal terms with the 22-year-old.

They said: “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.

“The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”

While personal terms have yet to have been officially agreed, the Mirror has reported that the forward is set to earn up to £400,000 a week and will also be tied down to a five-year contract at the club.

Pep has finally got his man

After failing to sign Harry Kane last summer, Pep Guardiola made Haaland his number one target, with the Norwegian identified as a long-term signing to lead the front line for years to come.

Haaland has been one of the most in-demand players in world football with several of the biggest clubs in the world vying for his signature.

Since his arrival from Red Bull Salzburg, Haaland has made a huge impact in Germany, scoring 85 goals in 89 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, with 28 of those coming from 29 appearances this season – despite suffering from a number of minor injuries this season.

Expect goals, goals and more goals, maybe a few trophies along the way too. Who knows, they might even win the Champions League.
