Why on earth would Mayo do media?

Colm Parkinson usually does nothing but whinge about not getting access to players but, this time, it's different.
The GAA Hour host can see exactly why a county like Mayo would keep a low profile when it comes to doing press in the national media. It boils down to a simple question: why the hell would they? Mayo can't win. When their guys step into the spotlight, they're accused of loving the attention, of acting like celebrities, of not focusing on their football. They haven't won the All-Ireland, you see - who the hell do they think they are to be doing stuff like that... like talking to journalists. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/894658273772789762 On the bank holiday GAA Hour football show, Aidan O'Shea came in for much love but Colm Parkinson defended Mayo's right not to speak to the media."He's a player I really like, much-maligned, but another quick one on that is that Mayo are on a very strict media ban all this year and I actually don't blame them," Wooly said. "They're the one county I don't really mind being on a media ban and I understand why they have to do it because of the absolute nonsense that they have to put up with if one of their players says something. "They get an awful lot of negative press when they've been on the go for so long and they're still giving us great games. Now, another great performance. "Aidan O'Shea really is one of the top players in the country and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves."
