We're definitely tuning in to watch this tribute to the two-sport legend tonight
Dual sports starts are rare enough these days, and they were not overly common even a few decades ago when the demands were not so high. That is just one of the reasons why Liam McHale, a star in Gaelic football and basketball, deserves to be remembered as a true Irish sporting great.
Tonight, the excellent TG4 series Laochra Gael (8pm) turns its attention to the Mayo man and they have produced a teaser trailer to get you in the mood. As well as great archive footage of McHale playing football and basketball, what strikes you most in this small taster is just how good McHale was at plucking the ball out of the air.
A lot of guff is written about the death of fielding in GAA as a few men still soar above the rest to win contested balls. But we doubt there is anybody playing today as good at it as McHale is in this short video.
