Paul Galvin was no angel.

He’s said so himself, not that you needed to be told. This afternoon the former Kerry footballer came out to defend one of his own after an ugly incident in the Allianz Football league clash between The Kingdom and Donegal. The opening 35 minutes in Tralee were marred by several ugly flare-ups between both sides. One such incident resulted in Kerry losing full-forward Alan Fitzgerald to a straight red card. Neil McGee appeared to make contact with Fitzgerald’s fingers after just six minutes, and the Castlegregory man retaliated with several punches to McGee’s head. The referee had no choice but to send the Kerryman off. However Paul Galvin defended the Kerry forward for his actions in a strongly worded tweet that criticised the Donegal full-back. https://twitter.com/pgal10/status/706489077063929856 Some people felt Galvin was well wide of the mark with his comments. https://twitter.com/pgal10/status/706497171865083904 https://twitter.com/pgal10/status/706497865477189634 https://twitter.com/pgal10/status/706499476148592640 The game has seen Leo McLoone also sent off for Donegal, while Shane Enright and Denis Daly both received black cards within seconds of each other. https://twitter.com/SportsJOE_GAA/status/706494678833766404 Kerry went on to win the game 1-13 to 1-8 to ease their relegation woes.
