VIDEO: One of the great Irish hurling traditions features in a new US documentary

It seems our appetite for being amazed at American's reaction to hurling continues unabated.

One of the biggest TV shows in America is set to broadcast an hour long special on our national game next week, which is sure to have the hurling aficionados out in full force waxing lyrical about the best sport in the world. The show called Hurling: Ireland's National Obsession is a part of the 60 Minutes series and will be broadcast next Tuesday on Showtime. We can safely predict you'll be seeing a raft of 'Twitter reaction' pieces in your timelines next Wednesday morning. Much more interesting is what is actually contained in the piece presented by Jack Ford, as he meets our President Michael D Higgins as well as ex-Cork hurler Donal Og Cusack and journalist Damien Lawlor. But what has caught our eye, and really gets to the heart of our love affair with hurling, is a brief snapshot of the obsessive nature of hurling in Kilkenny and one of its main secondary schools.
