Cormac Costello is just 22 years old but you wouldn't have guessed that given the composure and ease with which he took to one of the most intense games of football you're ever likely to see.
With the tide threatening to turn in Mayo's favour, Dublin's Costello was thrown into Saturday's All-Ireland final replay and rather than wade warily into the choppy waters to get a feel for the riptide, the Whitehall Colmcille man took a deep breath and dived right in.
He kicked two points seemingly instantly and his fearlessness was what was required just when the Dubs were starting to appear ponderous in shooting positions.
Another score gave Jim Gavin's men some breathing space and it begged the question - how far away is Costello from a regular starting place?
"We have such a strong panel that I was just waiting for my opportunity," Costello told RTÉ in the wake of the win.
And there are plenty of relieved Dublin fans that were delighted he got that chance when it mattered most.
