Storm Brian wreaking havoc with GAA games all over the country

In the grand scheme of things, these games can wait.

After the tragedies of Ophelia last week when three lives were taken and millions of euro worth of damage caused, games of football and hurling are put into stark perspective. So championship can hold off for a bit in the quest for safety first. Storm Brian hit the coasts of Ireland on Saturday morning with the Atlantic feeling the effects of it first. More here. In the GAA world, games were being called off at the last minute left, right and centre. Galway The All-Ireland champions were set for three senior hurling club championship quarter-final games on Saturday.

All fixtures have been postponed and a decision will be made in the morning if the games can be played on Sunday so players must wait and be prepared just in case. Every match scheduled for Saturday has been called off, including intermediate and junior championship clashes as well as all underage fixtures.
