Canning knew in that moment he was heading to the final, Galway were heading to the final. It was the photo of the summer, if not the photo of the year.
But it's just one of many photos that are in the 21st edition of A Season Of Sundays by Sportsfile, a must have for all GAA fans this Christmas.
A Season Of Sundays embraces the very heart and soul of Ireland's national games and this year's instalment captures the highs and lows of the GAA season.
The book captures moments such as Canning's famous point, Dublin reigning supreme above everyone else to win the All-Ireland, Roscommon blitzing Galway as well as Sarah McCaffrey's two goals to put daylight between Dublin and Mayo in the All-Ireland final.
Speaking at the launch, the book's creator Ray McManus said:
“A Season of Sundays is Sportsfile’s brainchild since 1996, and to see it mark its 21st birthday is special for the whole team to celebrate. Since its inception, the book has captured some truly fantastic moments in each of those seasons and 2017 was no different. I would like to thank all of my dedicated photographers for their fantastic work throughout the year, and of course the GAA community for making it such a thrilling season – one we won’t forget here at Sportsfile.”A Season of Sundays is available to buy at bookstores nationwide and retails at €24.95 and can also be bought online here.
