Ryan Basquel gives Jim Gavin timely reminder of his golden gun of a left foot

There was a battle of the brothers in Parnell Park on Friday evening.

Ballyboden St Enda's were hot favourites going into their Dublin SFC quarter final against Oliver Plunkett's but they only survived by the skins of their teeth. The 25-year-old kicked six of the finest points for Boden, three from open play and three from frees. The 25-year-old opened his account early on, haring down the sideline before cutting inside and swinging a gorgeous curler over the black spot with that sweet left peg of his. He was only getting going though as he sold another deceptive dummy a couple of minutes later before firing over again off the left. The Plunkett's backs were unable to cope with his blend of pace and guile in his explosive opening to the game and he made it a perfect three just a few minutes later, with his gem of a left peg again doing the business. With a golden gun like that, it's hard to believe he hasn't represented his county's senior team yet. Those contributions left the Plunkett's with plenty of work to do and though they did rally, with the introduction of the Brogan brothers changing things, Ballyboden always looked to have something in reserve.
