The CCC will be launching a full investigation into the incident.
Roscommon GAA has said an investigation is underway into an incident involving a referee during a minor championship match on Wednesday evening.
The incident is said to have occurred at a match in Ballyforan in Roscommon and footage of it has been widely shared on WhatsApp and social media.
In a statement on Thursday, Roscommon GAA said it was aware of an incident involving a referee at an underage match in Ballyforan.
“We would like to wish the referee involved in this incident a speedy recovery," the statement said.
It confirmed that the Competitions Control Committee would be launching a full investigation into the incident and that it condemns any behaviour which puts match officials at risk.
In a statement to JOE, An Garda Síochána said that it is aware of a video circulating on social media of an alleged incident at a sports ground in Roscommon on Wednesday evening, 31 August 2022. It confirmed it is conducting enquiries into the matter.
