The playing legend turned outspoken pundit hits 59 today
To celebrate the birthday of one of the most outrageous GAA pundits of all time we've put together some of the Kerry legend's most crazy and bewildering moments committed to tape.
The eight-time All Ireland winner was the original Joe Brolly-style critic at RTE and it wasn't too hard for us to pick out some of his more outrageous times in studio.
Here are eight of his finest appearances on the box, on and off The Sunday Game.
Puke football
You have to start with the daddy of them all.
Tyrone destroyed Kerry in the 2003 All-Ireland football semi final and Pat wasn't a bit happy.
He hasn't been able to shake his 'Public Enemy number 1' status since and the term has pretty much entered day-to-day use:
Shia football
Half time in the All-Ireland football semi final in 2011 and Pat Spillane decided to not only insult two counties worth of people but also an entire religion with comments on the standard of football on offer between Dublin and Donegal:

Ulster football rant
We're not sure if Pat has been up North recently but we think it might be an idea if he stayed away for a while or maybe forever as he regularly slags off the standard of football in Ulster.
Here he is giving Cavan and Fermanagh both barrels at half-time during last year's Ulster championship clash:

Pat Spillane looks like he could box the head off Joe Brolly at any stage when the two of them share a studio.
Things were especially tense during this exchange in 2012 discussing Brolly's assertion that Colm 'Gooch' Cooper and Kerry were 'chokers':

After Cork's win over Tyrone in the All-Ireland semi final in 2009 Pat took the opportunity to take down Joe's theory that Tyrone were the team of the decade.
It wouldn't be like Pat to be any way biased towards his native county now would it? And what about poor Colm stuck in the middle?

Pat and bras don't mix
We imagine Pat in his playing days was a man who went out with nothing on under his tight tight 1970's style Kerry shorts, only what God intended.
It was a time when men were men and GPS was probably a form of agricultural fertiliser.

Pat on Superstars
Pat Spillane should be on posters everywhere alerting Irish men to the dangers of the farmer's tan and covering up in the scorching sun after this telly apperance on Superstars at the end of the 1970s.
The magnificent contrast between Pat's pasty Irish skin and rosy red face is captured in this epic footage of the weird sportshow from 1979.
