Division 5 of the Wexford Football League produced a scoreline for the ages yesterday
While there is always something fascinating about really one-sided sporting contests (at least if your team isn't on the wrong end of it) getting beaten to no score is even worse.
Poor old Cowdenbeath in Scotland suffered a 10-0 defeat the other week at the hands of Hearts, a result that propelled them to infamy, but we didn't think we'd see a GAA scoreline that would be far, far worse just a fortnight later.
Whatever about a team running up 15-14, as Adamstown did at home to Clonee in Division 5 of the Wexford Football League yesterday, the fact that their opponent scored nothing (0-0) in reply is what makes this 59-point winning margin one for the ages.
In fairness to Clonee, it was two men who really did them damage. Ian Stafford's 3-4 was huge but man of the match must surely go to Johnny Connors, who scored a scarcely believable 7-2 for the home side.
Nice to see what must be the father and son duo of James Furlong Snr and Jinr getting on the scoresheet too.
