Pic: The first day of the GAA season has produced a wonderful picture

The New Year is only a few days old but we'll have to go some way to get a better GAA picture than this

The O'Byrne Cup, plus the McKenna Cup, got underway today and while we know these pre-season tournaments are little more than fact-finding missions for management, they are also a timely reminder to fans that the League is only around the corner, and the dark days of winter with no inter-county action are almost over. These games also tend to produce some dramatic photos for the snappers, played as they are in weather that is less than ideal. Today was not too bad by Irish standards but INPHO's Morgan Treacy still managed to nab a classic shot from the Longford v DCU match at Pearse Park today. We don't know who the unnamed DCU player is but we expect to see it feature in all the end of 2015 picture compilations. And, if you want to know, DCU beat Longford 3-13 to 0-11.
