Pat Gilroy steps down as Dublin hurling manager

Dublin hurling manager Pat Gilroy has resigned from his post citing work commitments.

Gilroy was appointed manager of the senior men's team last October after agreeing to a three-year term with the county board. Dublin won two of five games under Gilroy during the league campaign while the Jacks won just one game in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. Gilroy cited overseas travel as his reasoning for stepping down and expressed his gratitude for his time with the hurlers. "It was a huge honour for me to be selected to manage the Dublin senior hurling team and I was delighted that I was able to make a contribution during the past year," Gilroy said in a statement. I regret his departure but appreciate the huge sacrifices he has made over the year for Dublin GAA. The committee will commence the process of considering suitable candidates to replace Pat and his management team shortly.”
