Cork's team management had written a strongly worded letter to the executive, stressing the importance of retaining their home advantage for this championship tie.
The Cork County Board then released the following statement to local radio station Red FM:
“Further to correspondence from our Senior Football management, the Cork County Executive wishes, once more, to confirm Páirc Uí Rinn as our home venue for the Munster Senior Football Championship semi-final versus Kerry.
"Secondly, we are confident that the necessary works can be completed in time for the fixture once the venue is confirmed in the next few days.”
There is uncertainty as to the exact capacity of Pairc Ui Rinn which is expected to be resolved when these necessary works are completed.
The hashtag #PaircUiRinnOrNowhere has began to do the rounds on social media, and bares great resemblance to the issue up in Ulster regarding Cavan and Antrim.
The Ulster draw declared that Antrim had home advantage, and it was to be played in Corrigan Park where all of the county's Division One hurling games were played, but Cavan insisted that the stadium was too small to hold the expected attendance.
Although the Ulster Council initially agreed that this was to be changed, after receiving much back lash, the fixture was indeed set to be played in the originally intended venue.
