The full forward was already looking like a shoe-in for an All Star after a string of sensational performances in the league and championship to date.
With McBrearty's help, on Sunday, Donegal won their first Ulster final since 2014. He limped off in the second half, following the ligament tear, but he was on hand for the trophy presentation.
They have qualified for the Super 8s, through the provincial route, and are in the same group of four as All-Ireland champions Dublin.
