One of the key issues between the Mayo players and their ex-managers may have been revealed

If this is true then the Mayo management must have known things were going badly.

Well that was an eventful weekend for managers getting their P45s. Brendan Rodgers, Dick Advocaat and of course Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly all stepped away, or were sacked, from respective managerial roles over the weekend. With Rodgers and Advocaat, it seems both men suffered from poor performances on the pitch, while there still at least seems to be some confusion over why the Mayo players dumped a management team that guided them to within minutes of beating Dublin, twice, and a fifth Connacht title in a row? Well perhaps this anecdote from the weekend's newspapers may explain it. The Sunday Independent reported some of the alleged issues involving backroom personnel and players not allowed access to matches because of ticketing issues that upset the Mayo squad throughout the season and ended in last Friday's decision by the joint managers to quit. But one story stands out above all else and it refers to the county's preparation for the one of the Dublin All-Ireland semi final clashes. Journalist Damien Lawlor doesn't  mention whether it was the replay or the first day out, but either way, if this is true then surely the management must have suspected players would be desperately unhappy Perhaps it was a genuine mistake and the notes were subsequently located but you can imagine that this particular story may have cropped up more than once among the players as they formulated their vote of no-confidence last month.
