New Waterford jersey has us pining for the days of colour

Is it a nice day? Nah, it's a bit grey.

Grey is not good, it's the colour of rain, the Clampdown and embarrassing defeats at Southampton. So why add it to one of the classiest jerseys in the GAA? Kit manufacturers Azzurri have released the new Waterford jersey, which features a new and unnecessary splash of grey around the crest. Why? White is the colour of purity, the colour of hope. Derek McGrath's young team brought hope to Deise hurling fans last season and, now, a year older and more experienced, they will trot out for their opening Munster Senior Hurling League (rest in peace Waterford Crystal Cup) game with a stamp of boredom above their heart. Remember when Tony Browne, Dan Shanahan and Paul Flynn used to hurtle around, helmetless, sponsored by Yops, with all the colours of the rainbow splashed on their sleeves? No more, now grey is the colour accompanying the iconic blue and white. Or maybe they've adopted the rubber studs that they put on rugby jersey to help players hold on to that slippery egg  - not such a big problem with a sliotar. https://twitter.com/bonjo7/status/674297878400102400 Some have had the same thoughts as myself... https://twitter.com/seanhaarney/status/674332337497354240 https://twitter.com/larry_99226/status/674326972814770176 But the majority are backing grey... https://twitter.com/Stephen_Long/status/674303598206050305 https://twitter.com/DeniseMurph/status/674332520159293440 https://twitter.com/Kate_oneill21/status/674353855010906112 https://twitter.com/S_e_a_n_F_i_t_z/status/674394405072191488 https://twitter.com/jenm90/status/674502760814018560 https://twitter.com/ReginaldsTower/status/674505820579700736 https://twitter.com/LePhease/status/674533342910554112
