How has he got away with this?

Michael Murphy avoided a red card after striking Kerry's Dylan Casey in Sunday's Division 1 football final at Croke Park.

The Donegal star saw yellow for a low blow and strike to the neck of Casey, but fans on social media were dumfounded as to how he avoided a red from referee David Gough.

Murphy is seen engaging with Casey alongside team-mate Ryan McHugh, first striking him with a closed fist to the midriff, before a strike to the neck as Casey was crouched down.

Murphy went on to score a two-pointer shortly after to add insult to injury for Kerry.

Those on social media couldn't wrap their head around the incident.

On the sidelines, Kerry manager Jack O'Connor went ballistic at the incident, and his opposite number Jim McGuinness was seen pointing to earlier incidents and pleading for O'Connor to calm down.

One said: "Should have been a red for Michael Murphy."

Another said: "Michael Murphy is a Thug .. intentionally boxed a player twice .. once Body one Face.. Bottle Job by Gough.

A third said: "Another year of Michael Murphy getting away with clear reds most matches."

A fourth said: Michael Murphy has been getting away with it for years, nothing new at all. Great footballer but the rules should be applied fairly to both teams."
