Kieran McGeeney was in good spirits yesterday, despite his side's 1-20 to 0-19 loss to Donegal in their Division 1 clash at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.
Speaking with the media after the game, the Armagh boss was cracking jokes and discussing what he described as a media 'infatuation' with him.
He said: “I can’t talk about referees, fellas. Ye get more headlines off me about f**king referees. You know something, the readers, just so they know, they think we come out and start going on about referees.
“‘Gather around everybody here, start talking about referees and give them a hard time’. Yous know: ‘Kieran, do you think the timekeeping was really harsh?’
“Suddenly the headline is, ‘McGeeney gives out about referees’. There’s idiots out there love writing about me, they’re infatuated by me. Stop asking me.”
One of the defining moments in the game came in the 67th minute - with Donegal up by four points - when Oisín Conaty had a penalty saved brilliantly by Gavin Mulreany, before his rebound was blocked on the line by Brendan Cole.
When asked could Conaty's have done much more with his effort.
A smirking McGeeney replied: "He could have scored."
