London senior hurling final postponed again at estimated €80,000 cost to supporters

The London senior hurling final has been postponed 48 hours before the scheduled throw-in for the second time in three weeks.

The competing clubs St Gabriels and Brothers Pearse were informed of the decision on Friday, when London GAA signalled their intention to wait out on 'the full DRA tribunal hearing.' Originally fixed for October 15, the final has been up in the air on the back of a dispute over an ineligible player. Robert Emmetts had initially defeated St Gabriels in their semi-final, winning out in a penalty shoot-out but an objection was soon made. There is widespread anger not just among players and management teams, but also among supporters who had booked flights and accommodation. It is being estimated that the financial loss sustained could reach as high as €80,000. London GAA issued the following statement on Friday afternoon.
