The Limerick hurlers were given a great reception when they landed back to Colbert Station on Sunday night.
Limerick were defeated by Cork by 1-28 to 0-29 in a classic All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday afternoon. John Kiely's side were in hot pursuit of a record fifth All-Ireland senior hurling title in succession but were denied by an inspired Cork display.
The Treaty were looking to go where no other hurling team had gone before with Kilkenny also having failed in their bid for a five in a row in 2010, when they were beaten by Tipperary in the final.
Brian Hayes was the man-of-the-match for Cork though they had any number of inspirational performances with Shane Barrett, Darragh Fitzgibbon and Eoin Downey impressing amongst others.
Having won five All-Irelands in the last six years, Limerick have enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years and their supporters showed their appreciation for the team on Sunday night. The Limerick fans packed out Colbert Station when the team landed back on the train, cheering them off and thanking them for the great days they have given the county over the last number of years.

Speaking after the game, John Kiely had urged the Limerick supporters to appreciate the achievements of this team.
'm grateful to them, as everyone in Limerick should be for what they have done over the last number of years. It's been an incredible achievement. We had hoped that 2024 we could push on and find new levels again and we have in many respects but it just wasn't to be," he told RTÉ Sport.
Cork now advance to the All-Ireland final which will take place on July 21. They will take on Clare in the game in a repeat of the 2013 decider with the Banner having beaten Kilkenny on Saturday.
