Limerick set to receive major boost ahead of All-Ireland Final

John Kiely's side will be going in search of a record-equalling fourth successive All-Ireland.

After a resounding comeback victory which saw Limerick run out 2-24 to 1-18 victors over Galway, John Kiely's men once again displayed their innate mental fortitude and will to win. Limerick fans would have been making their way down the M7 yesterday evening in a buoyant mood, knowing that their side was on the precipice of equalling the 2009 Kilkenny and 1944 Cork teams in claiming a fourth consecutive Liam McCarthy Cup. However, those within the Treaty county will see their optimism taken to even loftier heights, with the news that John Kiely has received a massive injury boost ahead of their return to Croke Park in a fortnight. Speaking after yesterday's semi-final triumph, the Limerick boss revealed that his captain Declan Hannon has "every chance" of being fit for the All-Ireland final. Limerick handed major injury boost:

Having sustained a knee injury in Limerick's Munster Final win over Clare last month, the Adare man missed out on the clash against Henry Shefflin's Galway side. But Kiely divulged to reporters post-game that the All-Star hurler was on the brink of a return to action;

"He has got every chance". "We just have to wait and see how he is able to cope with the bit of work during the next week to ten days". "We'll give him every opportunity to state his claim, we'll just have to wait and see".
