GAA fans were treated to some pulsating action on a fair windy day of Sigerson and Trench Cup action down in Mallow.
The gusting winds down in Cork, on Saturday, had a huge bearing on events as a number of university sides went at it.
St Mary's of Belfast went into the half-time break 0-7 to 0-0 up against UCD in their Sigerson semi-final. Their players scored a number of long-range points and tried to pin their opponents in their half. The wind and St Mary's high fielding, and pressing, worked a charm.
UCD scored 0-7 of their own after the break but 'The Ranch' chipped over three points against the breeze to progress to the final.
Earlier in the day, Letterkenny IT and Dundalk IT played out another game in the swirling winds. Dundalk led 1-6 to 0-6 at the break but then had to face into the strong gusts.
Dundalk did score 1-1 in the second half, though, and looked set for a win as they led 2-7 to 0-10 with just 40 seconds of normal time to play. Letterkenny went for broke and managed to win by two clear points.

The final score was 0-15 to 2-7 as Letterkenny won the Trench Cup for only the third time in their history.
