Kerry LGFA slammed for ‘disturbing behaviour’ after sacking minor ladies manager Jonathan Griffin via email

Kerry minor ladies manager Jonathan Griffin has had his contract terminated by email, news which has provoked an understandably angry response. Griffin was informed by the Kerry LGFA that his services were no longer required less than a week before Kerry's Munster championship opener against Tipperary. A statement from Kerry LGFA was released via Radio Kerry.

“At a meeting of the county board executive, it was decided the present and future aims of the Kerry LGFA and the current minor management team were not aligned. They subsequently decided for a change of management, with immediate effect.”

In response, Griffin told Radio Kerry that he intends to appeal and says that he believes the decision did not represent all members of the Kerry LGFA executive.

"I believe this email is only representative of a certain section of members of the Kerry LGFA executive and others were not privy or in support of this email. I am presently considering my right of reply in relation to this email and will certainly do so in due course."

Senior manager Graham Shine has assumed managerial duties on an interim basis.
