Jacqui Hurley takes over as The Sunday Game announce a star-studded team of pundits

Jacqui Hurley has been announced as the new host of The Sunday Game.

Hurley will replace Des Cahill, who has headed RTE’s chief GAA highlights show for the last 14 years. “It's a childhood dream," is how the Cork woman described it. It’s an absolute privilege to take on such an iconic role and follow in the footsteps of some incredible broadcasters,” she said. “I look forward to the challenge and can’t wait to get started.” Joanne Cantwell meanwhile, will continue in her role as host of both The Saturday Game live and The Sunday Game Live. Meanwhile, Damian Lawlor will step in to host the Saturday Game, a new highlights show that will premier this year. "The new GAA fixture calendar has meant more inter-county games than ever within a condensed period," said the Tipperary man. "This has given RTÉ Sport an opportunity to introduce The Saturday Game. Along with our production team, I will do everything I can to ensure the programme develops into an unmissable, flagship show that delivers the best insight and analysis for our viewers," he added. RTÉ have also added a host of new pundits to their team, the star names including Peter Canavan, Lee Keegan, Joe Canning and Paul Flynn. Tomás Ó Sé will also return as a pundit after taking the year out during his time as a selector with the Offaly footballers.

The broadcaster is also introducing a number of new pundits, including Galway’s Joe Canning, Tyrone’s Peter Canavan, Dublin’s Paul Flynn, Mayo’s Lee Keegan, Clare’s David Tubridy and Tyrone’s Enda McGinley. Kerry’s Tomás Ó'Sé will also return this year. Meanwhile, returning to provide analysis will be Dónal Óg Cusack, Liam Sheedy, Anthony Daly, Brendan Cummins, Ursula Jacob, Jackie Tyrell, Shane Dowling, John Mullane, Shane McGrath, Brian Carroll, Michael Duignan, Elaine Aylward, Colm Gooch Cooper, Sean Cavanagh, Cora Staunton, Eamonn Fitzmaurice, Noelle Healy, Ciaran Whelan, Eamon O’Hara, Conleith Gilligan and John Casey.
