Henry Shefflin highlights the one Galway player that made the difference against Kilkenny

Ten-time All-Ireland winner Henry Shefflin has said that Galway forward Jonathan Glynn summarised the Tribesmen's character in their Leinster Senior Hurling Championship final replay win over Kilkenny on Sunday.

Glynn scored Galway's first and only goal in the 1-28 to 3-15 win at Semple Stadium and Shefflin praised the forward for his work rate and bravery after he was a late change for Conor Cooney prior to throw-in. Glynn accumulated his personal tally of 1-1 within the opening 20 minutes, and was held scoreless thereafter, but Shefflin insisted that it was his attitude that embodied how this Galway team has developed under Michael Donoghue. https://twitter.com/officialgaa/status/1015963577214210051

"Ger [Loughnane] was right in it was about character and who summarised it for me best was Jonathan Glynn," Shefflin said on The Sunday Game after Galway successfully defended their Leinster title. "We were saying beforehand that maybe it might have been a mistake to start him but when they came under pressure he was the one putting his body on the line. "He's a big man, throwing the ball out, beating lads left, right and centre and there was one stage there at about 50 minutes when Eoin Murphy ran about 40 yards across the other end of the field. "And that's Galway before where they might not have done that work and you heard Joe reference it in his few words there. "That's that workrate that Michael Donoghue demands of them. They didn't get it last week but I think they got it this week."
