Tributes have poured in following the passing of Cork GAA legend Ger Fitzgerald at the age of 60.
After battling an illness, his death was confirmed this morning, Tuesday, March 18.
Fitzgerald was a two-time All-Ireland winner as a corner forward with the Cork hurling team, in 1986 and 1990, while he won three Munster titles and was captain for their win in 1992.
He also took home four Cork club SHC titles with Midelton, and an All-Ireland title 1988 when his father Paddy Fitzgerald was manager.
Ger coached Midleton to a Cork SHC title in 2021, and he also managed Cork's U21 side and was a selector for the senior team.
His Cork captain for the 1990 triumph, Tomás Mulcahy, was among those who paid tribute.
He wrote on X:
"Very saddened at the passing of Ger Fitzgerald, who made an outstanding contribution to GAA A talented hurler, Ger won 2 All Irelands with Cork in ‘86 & ‘90.
"He was also a wonderful coach & mentor to so many young people in his beloved Midleton Deepest sympathies to his family."
Taoiseach and Cork native Micheál Martin also also paid tribute:

"He was also a wonderful coach & mentor to so many young people in his beloved Midleton Deepest sympathies to his family."
