That's that.

Pre-season's over, we can start looking forward to the start of the new year now. Roscommon and Dublin's wins today brought to a close the regional fixtures and now we can begin the countdown to championship football. The league starts next week and, surprise surprise, Jim Gavin's men head in with a bit of silverware under their arm as they aim to defend their Division One crown. The Rossies, meanwhile, continue to rise. Whilst Dublin were taken to extra time to slog out their O'Byrne Cup triumph over Kildare, 10 points - nine from set pieces - off the boot of Dean Rock led the way as Kevin McManamon racked up five from play himself to guide the Dubs to a 0-24 to 0-19 victory. In Kiltoom, Roscommon went goal crazy as they saw off Galway on a 4-8 to 1-12 scoreline. Ciarán Cafferky, Enda Smith, Ciarán and Diarmuid Murtagh all raised green flags for John Evans' men as they clinched the Connacht FDB League title in style.
