It's hard to believe but the championship has arrived, and it comes on a weekend where the Allianz National League hurling final takes place as well.
Clare will take on Kilkenny in the Division One final this Saturday, live on TG4 to see who will be crowned champions of the league, but the football championship will start even before that.
It's Connacht that gets the ball rolling with Galway taking London on Saturday, and the same province will close out the weekend as Mayo make the long trip to New York for their opener.
The Ladies National League football finals are also taking place with Armagh taking on Kerry in the D1 final, and Kildare battle it out with Tyrone for the D2 title.
Arguably the most exciting contest this weekend will be up in Ulster as Monaghan take on Cavan in the preliminary round of the competition, and it promises to be a tasty affair.
Monaghan were relegated to Division Two this season but have a lot of men back from injury, including Rory Beggan who has returned from America, but Cavan have been enjoying life under Raymond Galligan and they have always been bit of a bogey team for the Farney men.
