You don't get much crossover in the fantasy literature and GAA worlds, but former Donegal footballer Eamon McGee's retirement announcement catered to anyone who falls in the intersection of that particular Venn diagram perfectly.
The 32-year-old defender followed fellow 2012 All-Ireland winner Colm McFadden by hanging up his boots for good following Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Dublin.
How did he mark the end of his 12-year inter-county stint, you ask? Well, by sending a screenshot of the last page of the Lord of The Rings to his hordes of Twitter followers.

Aside from getting more free time to bone up on his Tolkien, McGee admitted that there is another positive about life after inter-county GAA. He added that two things in particular he definitely won't miss about the lifestyle is the diet and the training.
