Despite losing out to Louth in the final of the Leinster SFC, Meath arguably had the biggest achievement of the competition with their semi-final win over Dublin; the first time the Sky Blues had been beaten in Leinster since 2010.
But the win in Portlaoise mattered not two weeks later, as Louth got revenge for their 2010 final defeat with a 3-14 to 1-18 victory in Croke Park.
After slagging Meath for having Dublin men in their team after the semi-final win, Philly McMahon had another pop at the Royals following their final loss.
The Sky Blues legend claimed that Meath's exuberant celebrations were over the top for a last-four game, and that Ger Brennan and his Wee County side would have used the scenes as motivations.
Speaking on the Indo Sport podcast, he said: "I think it's worth mentioning.
"Probably a lot of Meath people are getting stick today...did they celebrate too much when they bet Dublin?
"I've never been put on anybody's shoulders after winning an All-Ireland final albeit you're in Croke Park and you don't really get fans on the pitch but Meath's celebrations against Dublin were incredible.
"You could say there was a merit to that and they deserved it but I can tell you for me that would be energy. If I was Ger Brennan I'd be putting that up on the wall.
"Does this look like these lads are just in a Leinster final or they've actually won it?"
