The official report's description of the game as "an incident-packed match" might be something of an understatement.
On Saturday evening, Castleknock had to contend with more than their opposition when they claimed a 1-17 to 2-12 victory over Thomas Davis in their Dublin Senior 'B' Hurling Championship clash in Somerton.
The hosts enjoyed a 1-8 to 0-5 lead at the break but shortly after half-time, one of the most bizarre incidents took place as play had to be halted when Gardaí chased around a low-loader truck that had unexpectedly entered the grounds.
The Castleknock match report from Kevin Mallon states that the low-loader "damaged one car before breaking through the metal fencing surrounding the Clubhouse and crashing back out onto the Porterstown Road."
No injuries were reported and the game was allowed to play out after order was restored, with the driver of the low-loader being escorted to Finglas Garda Station.
There was a large crowd in attendance for the match so the fact that nobody got hurt was fortunate and the home fans went home happy - with quite the tale for their friends - as Castleknock secured a two-point win in their Dublin SHC 'B' opener thanks to nine Luke Whelan points, six from Cian O’Dualaing and two penalties from Thomas Davis.
