Clare only managed seven points in the second half as Cork chipped away at their lead. Tuohy and the Clare defence shut down any scoring chances close in and their opponents had to settle for points until the closing stages.

Tuohy made another superb stop, heading into injury time, when he got his hurl down to block a hard struck Pa Horgan effort.
The only team the sliothar got past Tuohy was when Horgan drilled in a free from 13 metres out. On that occasion, defender Jack Browne got behind it and Clare were on the home straight.
