DCU 0-23 Cork IT 0-12

DCU are tipping along nicely.

Last year's beaten finalists and this year's League champions came into this year's competition primed and well fancied and though they haven't been firing on all cylinders with no goals yet in their two games to date, they're doing what they have to do. Thursday night in St Clare's and Cork IT are the opposition. The Cork boys weren't out at the weekend so are still a bit of an unknown quantity coming into this one but a glance at a programme with Waterford's Conor Prunty and Tipp's Enda Heffernan in the half-back line shows they won't be too bad at all. And so it proves. They start off the better of the two teams and race into a 0-6 0-3 lead. But while DCU are slow to get going, they don't panic and with forwards like John Donnelly, Killian Doyle and Rian McBride to do the damage and with Eoghan O'Donnell, Paudie Foley and Chris Crummey minding the house, why would they? There were three changes on the DCU team, Fionntan Mc Gibb, Conor Firman and Brian Ryan replaced by Rian McBride, John Curran and Killian Doyle. Kilkenny's James Bergin sticks a few frees and Kilmacud Crokes' Fergal Whitely nails a few from open play. Standard business resumed. By half-time, they're up by two and with a wind at their backs in the second they kick on to win well. Limerick IT 4-24 Garda College 0-12

The most frightening attacking duo in this competition, in Peter Duggan and Casey were on fire as Limerick IT tore the Gardaí apart to make it two wins from two in this Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup . The Clare man ended his day with 1-11, 1-3 of it from open play while his Treaty partner in crime finished up with 1-1. Through to the quarter finals with a game to spare. These lads are looking good.
