The GAA have reminded the various county boards of the rule that inter-county minor teams are not to have captain speeches after games.
Croke Park issued a note to provincial councils recently to bring to their attention a longstanding policy relating to U-18 players, according to the Irish Independent.
The policy was first brought into play in 2010 by the GAA’s National Awards and Presentation Committee - chaired at the time by current Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Jarlath Burns - but having not been enforced strictly for years, the GAA are now refreshing their stance.
They have also informed TG4 that interviews with players are not permitted after minor games.
Previously, TG4 would interview players-of-the-match as they received their award but now those awards have been replaced by 'best and fairest' awards, which are to be accepted by the team's manager on behalf of any players.
Kilkenny beat Dublin in the Leinster minor final at the weekend but no microphone was handed out to the Kilkenny captain Bill McDermott. Mayo minor captain Tom Hession also didn't receive a microphone to make a speech after they beat Roscommon last Friday 0-14 to 0-10.
