Bumper weekend of sport on TG4 with eight hours of uninterrupted GAA

TG4 to the rescue once more...

By now, you are all well aware of how the Irish language broadcaster literally saves Gaels from going insane throughout the winter period. This weekend though, they have stepped it up a gear once more with eight hours of uninterrupted GAA action to whet fans' appetites. Not only will TG4 be broadcasting the two most anticipated club games this weekend, but they'll also have live coverage from Boston of the Aer Lingus Fenway Hurling Classic. Coverage begins at 1.30pm, with the Munster Club hurling final between Ballygunner (Waterford) and Na Piarsaigh (Limerick) up first. The first game throws in at 2pm from Semple Stadium. Last year's All-Ireland finalists Na Piarsaigh are favourites to go all the way this year, but they will find it tough overcoming a Ballygunner side that have fallen at this stage twice before, to the same opponents... Na Piarsaigh! Ballygunner will be brimming with confidence having overcome form team Ballyea in a pulsating semi final two weeks ago. Na Piarsaigh though, are unbeaten in the Munster club championship, a record dating back to their first win in 2011. A third final meeting in four seasons, this game really is a battle of the top two teams in Munster, and two genuine All-Ireland contenders. Can Ballygunner make it third time lucky? Or will Na Piarsaigh make it five from five in Munster? Following this, TG4 take us up north for the Ulster Club football semi final between Gaoth Dobhair (Donegal) and Crossmaglen Rangers (Armagh). The game is live from Healy Park, Omagh at 3.30pm. One of the closest games to call this weekend. Crossmaglen Rangers are the 'Kings of Ulster' having won the competition an unprecedented 11 times, their last victory coming in 2015. It has been well documented that they are a side in transition who don't necessarily possess the stars of old. However, that was also levied at them back in 2011 when they won their first of two All-Ireland's in a row. Donegal champions Gaoth Dobhair have looked like the strongest team in Ulster thus far and are rightfully seen as favourites to go all the way this year. On his day Odhran MacNiallais is one of the best footballers in the country to watch. The notorious McGee brothers still pose a threat to any young forward looking to make a name for himself, and former All-Star, Kevin Cassidy has found a new lease of life at full forward, scoring 1-3 against Antrim champions Cargin in the last round. This game really is a toss of the coin. Both sides will fancy their chances, and either could indeed go all the way to Croke Park on St.Patrick's day, 2019. If the best game in each code this weekend isn't enough for you, TG4 have live coverage of the Aer Lingus Fenway Hurling Classic kicking off with the first semi final between Clare and Cork at 5.45pm. The meeting of this year's Munster finalists is followed by the second semi final between All-Ireland champions Limerick and Wexford at 6.50pm.
