Browne knows UCC got away with it, Conway doing it for Kerry and for Lixnaw

Conor Browne knows well UCC were blessed.

DCU took over their Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final meeting in extra-time. Darren Mullen scored a peach and James Bergin nailed a long-ranger. In truth, Eoin Roche's men looked home and hosed. But then suddenly and from nowhere, their world came crashing down after a debatable call from the referee to give UCC a shady enough penalty. Chris O'Leary buried it. Elation for UCC, heartbreak for the men of DCU. Oisín Langan was on commentary duty for the brilliant Electric Ireland live stream that allowed people all over the country to watch this brilliant game, and he caught up with UCC captain Conor Browne after the game. Safe to say the Kilkenny man was excited.

"Jaysus, I don't know what to say. They were all over us at the end, we were blessed to get a penalty, but what a way to win it," said the James Stephen's club man. "They kept on piling on the pressure, point after point. In extra-time, both teams were wrecked, it's just who can get the most out of the legs."

And then he dropped an f-bomb when explaining how much this means to UCC.

"I suppose UCC is a college that thrives on the f*cking, sorry, the Fitzgibbon and I suppose they haven't been there in a few years so it's great to be back where we belong."

"A big pile on after the match, it was brilliant," he continued.

Meanwhile, Kerry man Shane Conway - who lorded it for Tom Kingston's charged the whole way through the game, was just in love with the beautiful game.

"That's why we play, hurling is so entertaining...it's absolutely brilliant," said an overjoyed Lixnaw man to Oisín Langan, who was on commentary duty for the Electric Ireland live stream. "We're delighted to be into the final, we can't wait to play next Saturday week..."

"You're representing where you come from. I'm representing Lixnaw, Kerry and all my family...A few players have done it before me though, the likes of Philip Lucid and Paudie O'Connor, they made the team too," he said. "It would be brilliant to win, there's not too many of them going around Kerry, I don't even have to say Kerry," he added.
