Johnny Glynn has been given a one-match ban for his clash with Darren Morrissey in the Galway SHC.
Glynn looks set to miss his club Ardrahan's county SHC preliminary quarter final against Clarinbridge this weekend, having been handed a retrospective suspension,
according to the Irish Examiner.
Glynn's initial appeal to the hearings committee fell on deaf ears though he does have the option, again, of appealing that decision. Both Glynn and Morrissey were initially yellow carded by ref Conor Quinlan for the bizarre and unsavoury altercation, though the CCC subsequently took action to suspend him for one game.
With the All-Ireland Hurling Championship now a distant summer's memory, attention has been firmly reverted back to the club game, with Galway sides Sarsfields and Ardrahan battling it out live on TG4 two weekends ago.
The game was made all the more interesting given the involvement of former Galway star Johnny Glynn, with the former All-Ireland winner having spent a number of years in the States.
Back and evidently keen as ever, it was not long until Glynn took centre stage in the contest, as he got into a bizarre altercation with an opposition player from Sarsfields.
In the first-half incident, it appears that Glynn gets his opponent in a choke of sorts, with both hands wrapped around the opposition player's neck.

Having presumably not seen the altercation unfold, the referee on the day proceeded to book both Glynn and his opponent, who had merely suffered the displeasure of an apparent chokehold.
In a parallel universe where the GAA deploys the use of VAR-like technology, the three-time Leinster Championship winner would surely have been sent for an early shower.
With Galway having fallen short yet again last season in their quest to repeat their 2017 heroics, there has been some recent speculation that Glynn could be set for a return to the county panel at the request of Henry Shefflin ahead of the Tribesmen's 2024 campaign.
Glynn would go on to score a second-half goal, but it was not enough to stop his Ardrahan side falling to a three point defeat.
Despite the loss, the result sees both sides advance out of the preliminary group stages, and continue on into the next round of the County Championship.
