It’s actually scary what Slaughtneil are achieving as a club

Most clubs aren't great.

Some of us may never win a trophy as GAA players, that's the harsh reality of it all. Every county has their power clubs, the ones that are always knocking on the door. In Dublin in football it's St.Vincent's, in Kerry, it's Austin Stacks and Dr. Crokes and in Derry it's Slaughtneil. It's nearly groundhog day, this time last year it was the exact same thing. Sunday was another big day for the club, there was only the small  matter of competing in the Ulster finals for both hurling and camogie. Yep, one club had two teams playing in the Ulster finals which is absolutely incredible. It was the same last year, they won the Ulster finals in camogie, football and hurling. Their footballers are in the Ulster quarter-finals next weekend but today was a big day as the hurlers and camogie players looked to retain their respective trophies and they did. The hurlers did so comprehensively too as they won by a scoreline of 2-21 to 1-12 against Ballygalget. https://twitter.com/UlsterGAA/status/922143302954168320 Utter dominance in Ulster so it seems for the hurlers and the camogie players are similar, they played Antrim's Loghgiel Shamrocks in their final and came out triumphant in a scoreline of 2-11 to 3-05 in a hugely successful day for the club. As the Derry GAA Twitter account said:

"2 in a row Ulster Hurling Champions, 2 in a row Ulster Camogie champions. Pioneering stuff week after week, year after year"

The sheer success that the club is having in unprecedented and it's admirable that they've came back after last year's heartbreak. Despite being victorious in Ulster last year the hurlers along with the footballers fell agonisingly close of All-Ireland glory but couldn't get over the line and were left with nothing. However, the camogie players did come away as All-Ireland champions. Now we wait to see if the footballers can add to the success.
