Worrying images of Emre Can leaving Anfield in a protective boot

Emre Can tore around Anfield for 80 minutes, last night, and helped Liverpool to wipe out their 3-1 deficit. Unfortunately for the German, he did not get to fully savour Dejan Lovren's sensational matchwinner. Can injured his ankle in the closing stages and hobbled off after treatment proved futile. Still, injury did not quell his joy at the final whistle of a 4-3 thriller. The midfielder was assessed after the game and had his right foot placed in a protective boot. https://twitter.com/JamesPearceEcho/status/720741211712135168 Can left Anfield on crutches and the club confirmed he will undergo an MRI scan on the damaged ankle later this morning. There is a possibility that Can has suffered ankle ligament damage, which would potentially scuttle his season. As for the game, and his take on it, Can said:

"You don’t experience an evening like that too often. I just can’t take it in yet. Respect for every member of our team. It is unique. I am proud to be part of this team. "We didn’t play that bad in the first half, [but] everyone of us believed we could get through in the second half. That is also the reason why we turned the game around."

Liverpool supporters will be hoping the German will be back for their upcoming semis and their final four league games.
