Wolves were runaway leaders in the Championship this season. Their close relationship with super agent Jorge Mendes helped them acquire stars from Europe such as Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota, and they cruised to automatic promotion and a title, playing some scintillating football along the way.
Their next Mendes signing appears to be almost complete, as the club have bid €40m for Valencia's João Cancelo.
The Portuguese defender has spent the most recent season on loan at Inter Milan, who have reportedly shown interest in keeping him.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo managed Cancelo at Valencia in the 2014/15 season, though he preferred to start Antonio Barragán.
Cancelo has not played as much as he would have liked to at Inter, with Antonio Candreva to compete with for the right wing spot and the more defensively sound Danilo D'Ambrosio nailing down the right-back position.
Cancelo first showed promise at Benfica before Valencia took him on a loan and then signed him permanently. He is highly rated for his attacking prowess, particularly his dribbling ability, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the defensive area.
Wolves are not short of cash and with this calibre of signing, they will be confident of not only avoiding relegation from the Premier League next season, but climbing into the top half of the league table.
