So what if he's scored more goals for his country than any other Englishman, it just wouldn't be Twitter if Wayne Rooney didn't get through a day without some form of criticism, would it?
Although he's played in a midfield role for his club in recent weeks (and may do the same for his country if he features in France), Rooney has been named as one of the five forwards in Roy Hodgson's 26-man preliminary Euro 2016 squad.
Predictably, there were a few that didn't even think the Manchester United captain warranted a place in the squad at all following a season where he's struggled with injury and form.

On the subject of his struggle for form, the tweet below highlights Rooney's minutes-to-goals ratio over the course of this season (which stands at 331.4 minutes of football for every goal scored) in comparison to some of his compatriots that were also eligible for a call up.
Incredibly, this return is worse than 20 other players, including the likes of Newcastle United's Andros Townsend - who also received a call up- and Everton's Aaron Lennon, Arsenal's Theo Walcott and Connor Wickham of Crystal Palace - who have all missed out.
