The incident is said to have taken place last Thursday.
Gardaí in Waterford are investigating an alleged assault that occurred at Earlscourt, Waterford at approximately 11pm on Thursday 25 April of this year.
The incident occurred in the Earlscourt housing estate on the Dunmore Road in Waterford.
According to WLRFM, Gardaí believe some type of chemical was thrown which resulted in three people being injured.
A number of youths were involved in the altercation, and three youths required medical attention and attended Waterford Hospital for treatment.
WLR are reporting that the "acid" that was allegedly thrown on the teenagers burnt through clothes and onto skin in some cases.
One of the teenage boys affected was Tega Agberhiere, an Irish international soccer player.
His mother said that he is getting better, but that he is still in the hospital in Waterford.
In a statement issued to JOE, Gardaí announced that they have carried out house to house inquires in the area and the investigation is ongoing.
