Just put it down to a bad summer and let's move on.
Raheem Sterling must be the least recharged man in football right now.
He was running around France for three weeks with England, taking abuse for it all the while.
Before he knew it, he was back with his club in a new regime with an enthusiastic new manager and it all started to show more and more that he was being weighed down.

He looks tired and jaded, devoid of a break, mentally beaten up by the demanding world of football.
So when City got their Champions Cup up and running against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night, things weren't turning around any faster for him.
It was business as usual for Sergio Aguero as City drew 1-1 after a last-minute Christian Pulisic goal cancelled out the English side's opener.

But it was the same, old routine for Sterling than it has been recently. It went down to penalties and ended 6-5 to Pep's men but there was no luck for young Raheem from the spot. It's just been a long summer.
